Community planting - Sunday 30 October, 10 am to 1 pm

Author: Philip Crohn On the last Sunday in September, seven volunteers, including two Scouts, enjoyed a warm breezy morning to plant about 50 daisies in the existing Delta Street plantation, plus spread more mulch to extend the area to be planted next year. Over the following few Wednesdays we did a lot more planting below the Union Road embankment, along the creek and below Delta Street, as well as the usual weeding and litter collecting. This Sunday 30 October we’ll return to the creek near Riversdale Road, near the area recently planted by Melbourne Water contractors, for a City Council community planting followed by a free barbecue. Meet there at 10 am, wearing sensible work clothes including sunhat, sturdy footwear and gloves, but bring a raincoat in case of forecast rain. Stay afterwards for your free lunch and a chat. Next Wednesday 2 November we’ll return to Sunday’s creekside plantation, 9 November to Delta Street then 16 November to near Union Road. Until further notice as
