We learnt all about bats at our AGM this year

Our Annual General Meeting for this year was held at 7:30pm Tuesday, 30th April, 2013 at The Cottage, Bedford Street,Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre. Annual reports were presented then the following committee members elected: Pam Welsford, Maggie White, Stuart Paxton, Ursula Povey and Peter Campbell. Charles Povey was appointed auditor for the coming year. Our guest speaker, Dr Lindy Lumsden from the Arthur Rylah Institute, provided a fascinating presentation on bats.  Everyone was surprised to hear how many bats there are around, the amount of pest insects they consume, and how they require cracks for nesting. Dr Lumsden had a lovely small bat to show us too. Supper was then served.

Date : Sunday 28th April Location : Near the little bridge from 10.00 until 12.00. We spread newspapers added mulch on established plantations in the area below the quince tree and platform table adjacent to the creek.  This is to prepare the area for some replanting. On the way home, a little boy on the bid was telling us about a crocodile tail he saw in the park! Many deciduous trees in the park now have autumn leaves
